    Let \((\Omega, d)\) be a metric space with a positive measure \(\mu\). Assume that \((\Omega, d, \mu)\) is a space of homogeneous type in the sense of \textit{R. R. Coifman} and \textit{G. Weiss} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 83, 569--645 (1977; Zbl 0358.30023)]. \textit{S. Hofmann} et al. [Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 1007, i-v, 78 p. (2011; Zbl 1232.42018)] introduced the general Hardy space \(H_L^{1}\) as follows: let the square function \(S_h f\) associated with a non-negative self-adjoint operator \(L\) be defined by \[ S_h f(x) = \bigg( \iint_{\Gamma(x)} |t^2 L T_{t^2} f(y)|^2 \frac{d\mu(y)}{\mu(B_d(x,t))} \frac{dt}{t} \bigg)^{1/2}, \] where \(\Gamma(x) = \{(y,t) \in \Omega \times (0, \infty) : d(x,y)<t \}\) and \(B_d(x,t) =\{ y \in \Omega : d(x,y)<t \}\). Let the Hardy space \(H_L^{1} = H_{S_h}^1(\Omega)\) be defined as the (abstract) completion of \[ \{ f \in L^2(\Omega) : \|S_h f \|_{L^1(\Omega)} < \infty \} \] in the norm \(\|f\|_{H^1} = \|S_h f \|_{L^1(\Omega)}\). In this paper, the authors prove the strong continuity of spectral multiplier operators associated with dilations of certain functions on the general Hardy space \(H_L^{1}\). By using this result, they also show the strong continuity of the heat semigroup \(\{e^{-tL}\}_{t>0}\}\), the Possion semigroup \(\{e^{-t\sqrt{L}}\}_{t>0}\}\) and the group of imaginary powers \(\{L^{iu}\}_{u \in \mathbb{R}}\) on \(H_L^{1}\).
