    Let \(G\) be compact semisimple Lie group, and let \(\hat{G}\) denote the set of equivalence classes of irreducible unitary representations of \(G\). Moreover, for \(g\in G\), define \[ \hat{G} \ni \varrho \mapsto {{\text{{tr}}(\varrho (g))}\over {\deg \rho}}\in \mathbb{C}. \] The Witten \(L\)-function of \(G\) with a twist given by \(g\in G\) is defined by \[ \zeta_{G}(s, g) = \sum_{\rho \in \hat{G}} { {\text{{tr}}(\rho (g))}\over {\deg \rho}}(\deg \rho)^{-s}. \] In this paper, the authors study the mean values \[ Z_G^m(s)= \int\limits_{G}\zeta_G^m(s, g) dg, \] where \(dg\) is the normalized Haar measure on \(G\), and obtain a series of interesting results. For example, if, for all \(\rho\in \hat{G}\) and \(g\in G\), \[ \text{{tr}}(\rho(g))\in \mathbb{R}, \] then, for sufficiently large \(\mathrm{Re}(s)\), \[ Z_G^2(s)= \sum_{\rho \in \hat{G}} \left( {\dim \rho } \right)^ {-2s-2} \mathop{=}^{\text{def}} \zeta_G(2s+2), \] If \(G=\mathrm{SU}(2)\), then, for \(\mathrm{Re}(s)>0\), \[ Z_G^3(s)= \sum_{m_1, m_2, m_3\geq 0} \left((m_1+m_2+1)(m_2+m_3+1) (m_3+m_1+1) \right)^{-s-1}, \] and has a meromorphic continuation to the whole complex plane. Also, generalizations of \(Z_G^m(s)\) defined on subgroups of \(G\) are discussed.
