    For an infinite group \(G\), denote by \(\mathfrak{cgt}(G)\) the set of Hausdorff compact group topologies on \(G\). The authors consider the following natural question: What are the possible cardinalities \(|\mathrm{V}|\) of a pairwise homeomorphic (or nonhomeomorphic) subset \(\mathrm{V}\) of \(\mathfrak{cgt}(G)\)? Among the many interesting results in this article there are the following ones: {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize}\item[1.] \(|\mathfrak{cgt}(G)|\leq 2^{|G|}\); \item[2.] every pairwise nonhomeomorphic \(\mathrm{V} \subseteq \mathfrak{cgt}(G)\) satisfies \(|\mathrm{V}|\leq |G|\); \item[3.] if \(G\) is infinite, abelian and divisible with \(\mathfrak{cgt}(G)\not=\emptyset\), there is a pairwise homeomorphic \(\mathrm{V} \subseteq\mathfrak{cgt}(G)\) such that \(|\mathrm{V}|=|\mathfrak{cgt}(G)|=2^{|G|}\); \item[4.] every nonsemisimple compact connected Lie group \(G\) satisfies \(|\mathfrak{cgt}(G)|= 2^{\mathfrak{c}}\); \item[5.] in ZFC: there is a pairwise nonhomeomorphic \(\mathrm{V} \subseteq \mathfrak{cgt}(\mathbb{T})\) such that \(|\mathrm{V}|=\mathfrak{c}\), cf. \textit{A. Hulanicki} [Fundam. Math. 44, 192--197 (1957; Zbl 0082.02604)]; \item[6.] a compact abelian group \((K,\tau)\) satisfies \(\mathfrak{cgt}(K)=\{ \tau\}\) iff each automorphism of \(K\) is a \(\tau\)-homeomorphism. \end{itemize}}
