The paper is devoted to developing a new general approach of representing asymptotics of solutions to elliptic equations close to cone and edge singularities. The article starts with recalling some material from cone and edge algebras developed by B.-W. Schulze and his collaborators in general. Recall that cone and edge algebras are motivated by the task to establish pseudo-differential algebras that contain all differential operators which are typical for the singularity. It is well known that solutions to elliptic equations are typically furnished with asymptotics close to the singularities. The idea to characterize these asymptotics with the help of parametrix construction is well known. The novelty in the paper is that the notion of asymptotic parametrices of elliptic operators, both for conical and edge singularities, are introduced. It is shown that for the computation of asymptotics the usage of asymptotic parametrices has some advantage over parametrices in the former sense. However, the application of the presented theory to some concrete cases and writing explicitly asymptotics of solutions to elliptic equations close to cone and edge singularities are still very difficult. But I agree with the authors that ``the general approach should be realized so far as possible, in order not to lose sight of the structures shared by large classes of singular problems''.
