Let \(G\) be a finite group, \(\mathbb{Z}G\) its integral group ring. The normalizer conjecture \(N_{U(\mathbb{Z}G)}(G)=GZ(U(\mathbb{Z}G))\) has been the target of intensive research, for instance recently by the second author [J. Algebra 256, No. 2, 343--351 (2002; Zbl 1017.16023)] and by the first author and \textit{J. Hai} [Commun. Algebra 42, No. 6, 2502--2509 (2014; Zbl 1298.16022)]. The authors, starting from the facts that the normalizer conjecture is known to be valid for simple groups and hence for their direct products, prove the following main results. Let \(N\) be a minimal normal subgroup of \(G\) such that \(Z(U(\mathbb{Z}G/N))=\pm Z(G/N)\) (\(G/N\) is a nilpotent group with a Dedekind Sylow 2-subgroup). Then the normalizer conjecture holds for \(\mathbb{Z}G\).
