This book is a combination of three separate books published by the authors, namely, (i) The Mathematical Theory of Elasticity, (ii) Thermal Stresses and (iii) Thermal Stresses -- Advanced Theory and Applications. Part 1 is related to the first book, Part II covers the second book and Part III covers the third book. The three parts are augmented by Part IV, Numerical Methods. Part I contains 12 Chapters, Part II contains 9 Chapters, Part III contains 5 Chapters and Part IV contains 3 Chapters. The book also contains an `errata' to the three books mentioned earlier. The book is addressed to higher level undergraduate students and engineers. The authors should have included a `Table' at the beginning of the book giving the `List of Symbols'. The book contains a lot of problems together with extensive solutions. The book will be useful to students, scientists, engineers and researchers working in the field of elasticity. The reviewer found mathematical rigor in the solutions and derivations.
