A Lie algebroid over a smooth manifold M consists of a vector bundle \(\pi :A\to M\) together with a Lie bracket \([.,.]\) on the space of sections of \(\pi\) and a morphism \(\#\) of vector bundles from \(\pi\) to the tangent bundle of \(M\). A Lie algebroid is said to be integrable when it is the Lie algebroid of a Lie groupoid. This paper is concerned with Lie algebroids and Poisson manifolds, which have natural integrating objects like Lie groupoids and symplectic groupoids, respectively. The authors construct an integration functor for the class of integrable Lie algebroids. They focus on an integration functor for Lie algebroids that translates into an integration functor for Poisson manifolds. For this aim, they use the notion of comorphisms of Lie algebroids and Lie groupoids. Also they give two propositions dealing with the path and homotopy lifting properties via complete comorphisms for Lie algebroids, which are necessary for the proof of the main result (Theorem 5.1) of the paper. In this theorem, it is shown that the classical integration functor for Lie algebras is generalized to integrable Lie algebroids and complete comorphisms. In the last part of the paper, the construction above is applied to Poisson geometry.
