\textit{M. Boij} and \textit{J. Söderberg} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 78, No. 1, 85--106 (2008; Zbl 1189.13008)] conjectured a classification of the graded Betti numbers of Cohen-Macaulay modules. \textit{D. Eisenbud} and \textit{F. O. Schreyer} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 22, No. 3, 859--888 (2009; Zbl 1213.13032)] subsequently proved this conjecture; indeed, they provided an algorithm to decompose a graded Betti table into a positive linear combination of so-called pure Betti diagrams. Following this, \textit{M. Boij} and \textit{J. Söderberg} [Algebra Number Theory 6, No. 3, 437--454 (2012; Zbl 1259.13009)] extended this work to the general case of graded modules. The present paper explicitly describes the possible Betti tables for an ideal with a linear resolution. It should be noted that \textit{S. Murai} [J. Algebra 317, No. 2, 658--690 (2007; Zbl 1144.13006)] and \textit{J. Herzog}, \textit{L. Sharifan} and \textit{M. Varbaro} [``The possible extremal Betti numbers of a homogeneous ideal'', \url{arXiv:1111.0442}] have each provided different characterizations thereof. The authors compute the explicit Boij-Söderberg decomposition of the Betti table for an ideal with a linear resolution. Indeed, they construct a uniform Ferrers hypergraph whose Ferrers ideal realizes each such Betti table, thus providing a combinatorial interpretation for the coefficients of the Boij-Söderberg decomposition. The authors further provide an explicit Boij-Söderberg decomposition of a special family of Gorenstein modules whose resolutions can be realized by a particular class of Stanley-Reisner rings.
