The paper may be considered as a sequel to the previous publication [Ann. Probab. 41, No. 4, 2990--3025 (2013; Zbl 1284.60167)] by these authors, where the phase transition issue for inhomogeneous bond percolation on square, triangular and hexagonal lattices has been addressed. It was shown that for these 2D models at criticality, the star-triangle transformation allows to prove the box-crossing property. The very same technique is the main ingredient of the present proof that all pertinent percolation models belong to the same universality class. Namely, they have identical critical exponents at the critical point (provided the exponents exist). No progress is reported on the existence issue of the exponents. Links with \textit{H. Kesten}'s studies of scaling relations for 2D percolation [Commun. Math. Phys. 109, 109--156 (1987; Zbl 0616.60099)] are established for near-critical exponents. Hints of universality are provided by certain Kesten's hypotheses in case of homogeneous percolation models. An inhomogeneous generalization along this line is not reached.
