    Let \(L^r_2\) be the space of \(2\pi\)-periodic functions \(f\in L_2\) with absolutely continuous derivatives \(f^{(r-1)}\) and with \(f^{(r)}\in L_2\). As usual, \(E_n(f,L_2)\) denote the best approximation of \(f\) by trigonometric polynomials of order \(n\) in the space \(L_2\). Suppose that \(\Psi(t)\), \(t\geq 0\), is a continuous increasing function so that \(\Psi(0)=0\). For \(m,r \in \mathbb{N}\) and \(1/r \leq p \leq 2\) let us denote by \(W^r_{m,p}\) the class of functions \(f\in L^r_2\) such that, for any \(t\in (0,\infty)\), \[ \int_0^t\,\Omega_m^p(f^{(r)},\tau)\,d\tau \leq \Psi^p(t), \] where \(\Omega_m(f^{(r)},\tau)\) is the \(m\)th averaged smoothness characteristic of \(f^{(r)}\). Further, let \[ E_n(W^r_{m,p},L_2)= \sup \{E_n(f,L_2)\,: \;f\in W^r_{m,p}\}. \] Under some condition on \(\Psi\) for the Kolmogorov \(n\)-width \(d_n\) it is proved that \[ \begin{multlined} d_{2n}(W^r_{m,p},L_2) = d_{2n-1}(W^r_{m,p},L_2)=\\ E_{n-1}(W^r_{m,p},L_2) = 2^{-m/2}n^{-r + 1/p} \left(\int_0^{\pi}\left(1 - \frac{\sin t}{t}\right)^{mp/2}\,dt\right)^{-1/p}\Psi(\pi/n) \end{multlined} \] and that the same equalities are true for the Gelfand, Bernstein, linear, and projection \(n\)-widths. Moreover, the Jackson-Stechkin type inequalities for periodic functions in the space \(L^2\) are obtained.
