This paper deals with a general class of complex Hermitian (or real symmetric) \(N\times N\) matrices with centred random variables as entries. Random variables are independent up to the symmetry constraint. The authors establish bounds on the averages of arbitrary monomials in the resolvent matrix entries. For proving the results, they use (among others) a very nice and illustrative graph-based technique. Their bounds lead to a proof of the diffusion approximation for the magnitude of the resolvent of random band matrices, which further implies new delocalization bounds on eigenvectors of such matrices.
