In this article the authors consider the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation \[ \partial_tu+\partial_x^3u+ \partial_x\partial_y^2u+u\partial_xu=0,\quad(x,y)\in\mathbb{R}^2, t\in[0,1]. \] This equation, which is a bidimensional generalization of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation, is a mathematical model to describe the propagation of nonlinear ion-acoustic waves in magnetized plasma [\textit{V. E. Zakharov} and \textit{E. A. Kuznetsov}, ``On three-dimensional solitons'', Soviet Phys. JETP 39, 285--286 (1974)]. The aim of this paper is to consider a unique continuation principle for this equation. The authors prove that if the difference of two sufficiently smooth solutions of this equation decays as \(e^{-a(x^2+y^2)^{\frac{3}{4}}}\) for a large enough \(a>0\), at two different times, then both solutions coincide.
