A special class of solutions on which the metric evolves by dilations and diffeomorphisms plays an important role in the study of the singularities of the flows as they appear as possible singularity models. They are often called soliton solutions. In the case when the diffeomorphisms are generated by a gradient vector field, we call such soliton a gradient soliton. Yamabe solitons are special solutions to the Yamabe flow. For the study of the Yamabe flow in the compact case, it is very important for understanding the singularity formation in the complete Yamabe flow to study the classification of Yamabe solitons. In this paper, the authors give out the classification of all radially symmetric gradient Yamabe solitons and derive their correspondence to smooth self-similar solutions of the fast diffusion equation. Moreover, the authors reach the conclusion that any eternal solution to the Yamabe flow with positive Ricci curvature and with the scalar curvature attaining an interior space-time maximum must be a steady Yamabe soliton.
