A \(k\)-algebra \(R\) over a commutative ring \(k\) is called a Rota-Baxter algebra of weght \(\lambda\), where \(\lambda\in k\), if there exists a \(k\)-linear operator \(P:R\to R\) such that \(\forall_{x\in R}\forall_{y\in R}[P(x)P(y)=P(xP(y)+P(x)y+\lambda xy)]\).NEWLINENEWLINEThe history of Rota-Baxter algebras is given in [\textit{L. Guo}, Notices Am. Math. Soc. 56, No. 11, 1436--1437 (2009; Zbl 1184.16038)].NEWLINENEWLINEIn the paper under review are presented some constructions in the category \(\mathfrak{CRB}/k\) of commutative Rota-Baxter algebras.NEWLINENEWLINEIt is introduced the notion of the Rota-Baxter localization of a commutative Rota-Baxter algebra \((R,P)\) with respect to a multiplicative subset \(S\subseteq R\). This notion is analogous to the notion of localization in commutative rings.NEWLINENEWLINEIt is constructed the Rota-Baxter localization for a Rota-Baxter algebra of any weight. Some simplifications of this construction in the case of weight zero are given. Furthermore, a construction of tensor product of commutative Rota-Baxter algebras is done.NEWLINENEWLINEThe paper ends with the construction of a Grothendieck topology on \((\mathfrak{CRB}/k)^{op}\), the opposite category of \(\mathfrak{CRB}/k\) .
