A classical (finite) \(W\)-algebra is a filtered deformation of the Slodowy slice to a nilpotent orbit in a complex Lie algebra. In the paper under review the authors study a ``super'' version, that is the (finite) \(W\)-algebra \(W_{m|n}\) for the general linear Lie superalgebra \(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n}(\mathcal{C})\). The main result of the paper gives an explicit isomorphism between \(W_{m|n}\) and a certain truncation of a shifted subalgebra of the Yangian \(Y(\mathfrak{gl}_{1|1})\). The authors also show that \(W_{m|n}\) admits a triangular decomposition in which the positive and the negative components are exterior algebras while the middle component is a symmetric algebra. This is used to show that all simple \(W_{m|n}\)-modules are finite dimensional. A tensor product construction of all simple finite dimensional \(W_{m|n}\)-modules is given.
