This paper is concerned with the analysis of periodic mode-III Yoffe-type cracks moving subsonically along the interfaces in a multilayered piezomagnetic/piezoelectric (PM/PE) composite under an in-plane electric or magnetic field. The penetrating cracks are distributed periodically on every second interface of the multilayered composite, and they are assumed to move simultaneously toward the same direction with a fixed length at a constant speed along the layer interfaces. The piezomagnetic layers are taken to be non-electromechanical and the piezoelectric layers to be non-magnetomechanical. The magnetic field is assumed not to be disturbed by the piezoelectric layers, and impermeability conditions are imposed on crack faces. The analysis of the multilayered problem is simplified to a bilayer model with an interfacial Yoffe-type crack by means of periodic conditions. The mixed boundary value problems are transformed into a Cauchy singular integral equation of the first kind by utilizing the Fourier transform. The normalized dynamic stress intensity factor is numerically obtained versus the active and passive layer thickness and the crack moving speed for various values of the Mach number. The general variation tendency of the factor versus the Mach number for various layer thickness and material mismatch parameters is given. The paper is especially valuable in providing some guidelines for the optimal design of multilayered PM/PE composites.
