The reproducing kernels associated with an orthogonal polynomial sequence \((p_n)_n\) is the function \( K_{n}(x,y)=\sum_{k=0}^{n}\frac{{p}_{k}(x)p_{k}(y)}{d_k^{2}}\), where \(d_n^2\) is the square of the norm of the polynomials. In the current paper the authors present some new results about the asymptotic behaviour of the partial derivatives of the kernel polynomials \(K_{n}^{(j,k)}(x,y)=\frac{\partial ^{j+k}K_{n}(x,y)}{\partial x^{j}\partial y^{k}}\), \(0\leq i,j\leq n\) associated with the Laguerre polynomials \(L_n^\alpha(x)\). As an application, they use the derived asymptotic results to obtain the inner relative asymptotics for certain Laguerre-Sobolev type polynomials.
