Intersections of the Hermitian surface with irreducible quadrics in \(\mathrm{PG}(3,q^2)\), \(q\) odd (Q405948)

Let \(q\) be odd and let \({\mathcal H}\) and \({\mathcal Q}\) be a Hermitian surface and an irreducible quadric in \(\mathrm{PG}(3,q^2)\) having the same tangent plane at a common non-singular point. The authors determine the possible intersection sizes for \({\mathcal H} \cap {\mathcal Q}\). They they characterize the geometric configurations corresponding to the minimum and maximum possible cardinalities.
