The authors consider an \(n\)-dimensional nonautonomous ODE with the property that its right-hand side \(f(t,x)\) tends to a time-independent function \(g(x)\) as time goes to infinity. This type of systems is referred to as asymptotically autonomous ODE. By introducing a suitable time transformation which is closely related to the rate of convergence of \(f(t,x)\) to \(g(x)\), the nonautonomous ODE is transformed into an autonomous system of dimension \(n+1\), where the infinite time interval is mapped to a finite one. This approach makes it possible to study the unbounded basins of attractions of exponentially stable solutions of the original ODE. For this purpose, the authors introduce a Lyapunov function in the transformed system satisfying a certain linear PDE and then approximate it by means of a family of Wendland's radial basis functions. This allows the numerical computation of the basins of attraction as sublevel sets of the Lyapunov function. The paper includes detailed examples illustrating the theorems and the numerical method.
