    The authors carry on their existence analysis in [\textit{F. Miranda}, \textit{J-F. Rodrigues} and \textit{L. Santos}, Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst., Ser. S 5, No. 3, 605--629 (2012; Zbl 1252.35257)] with the equation for the divergence free magnetic field \({\mathbf h}\in\mathbb{R}^3\) in a medium with non-linear Ohm's law: \[ \partial_t{\mathbf h}+\nabla\times(|\nabla\times{\mathbf h}|^{p-2}\nabla\times{\mathbf h})=f({\mathbf h}),\quad \frac{6}{5}<p<\infty \] in a bounded domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^3\), subject to the boundary conditions \[ {\mathbf h}\cdot{\mathbf n}=0,\quad |\nabla\times{\mathbf h}|^{p-2}\nabla\times{\mathbf h}\times{\mathbf n}=0. \] For a source term of the form \[ f({\mathbf h})={\mathbf h}\left(\int_{\Omega}|{\mathbf h}|^2\right)^{(\sigma-2)/2},\quad \sigma\geq 1, \] the authors show that for some initial data \(h_0\) with negative ``energy'': \[ \frac{1}{p}\|\nabla\times {\mathbf h_0}\|_p^p-\frac{1}{\sigma}\|{\mathbf h_0}\|_2^{\sigma}<0, \] and for \(\sigma>\max\{2,p\}\) the solution of the Cauchy problem has \(L^2\)-norm getting infinite in finite time. Solutions vanishing in finite time are also found for a source term of the form \[ f({\mathbf h})=-{\mathbf h}\left(\int_{\Omega}|{\mathbf h}|^k\right)^{-\lambda},\quad \lambda>0, \] with \(k\) smaller than the critical Sobolev exponent if \(p<3\). In addition, other parameter ranges are dealt with.
