Two birationally equivalent subvarieties in \(\mathbb{P}^n\) are said to be Cremona equivalent if there is a Cremona transformation of \(\mathbb{P}^n\) sending one variety to the other. In their previous work [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 41, No. 1, 89--93 (2009; Zbl 1184.14021)], the authors show that if the codimension of the two birationally equivalent subvarieties is at least \(2\), they are always Cremona equivalent. In present paper, the authors deal with the divisor case. They produce many birationally equivalent divisors of \(\mathbb{P}^n\) which are not Cremona equivalent. More precisely, the main theorem is the following: let \(X\) be an irreducible reduced projective variety of dimension \(k\leq 14\), then there are infinitely many non Cremona equivalent embeddings of \(X\) in \(\mathbb{P}^{k+1}\). A main ingredient is Mather's transversality theorem and this is the reason for the technical condition \(k\leq 14\).
