The large time behavior of the solutions of the Cauchy problem for a semilinear heat equation is considered, \[ \partial _t u = \Delta u + F(x,t,u)\quad\text{in }\mathbb{R}^N \times (0,\infty ),\;u(x,0) = \varphi (x)\quad\text{in }\mathbb{R}^N, \] where \(F \in C(\mathbb{R}^N \times [0,\infty )\) and \(\varphi \in L^1 (\mathbb{R}^N ,(1 + \left| x \right|)^K dx)\) with \(K \geqslant 0\). \(u\) is a solution of (1) satisfying \(\left| {F(x,t,u(x,t))} \right| \leqslant C(1 + t)^{ - A} \left| {u(x,t)} \right|\), \((x,t) \in \mathbb{R}^N \times (0,\infty )\) for some constants \(C > 0\) and \( A > 1\). In this paper, the \(([K] + 2)\)-th order asymptotic expansion of the solution is given and the relationship between the asymptotic profile of the solution and the nonlinear term \( F\) is obtained. Here \([K]\) is the integer satisfying \(K - 1 < [K] \leqslant K\).
