    Let \(F_0:M\to \mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) be a compact \(n\)-dimensional hypersurface \(M\) embedded in \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\). The generalized mean curvature flow is a smooth family of immersions \(F(\cdot,t):M\to \mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) satisfying \[ \frac{\partial}{\partial t}F(\cdot,t)=-f(H(\cdot, t))\nu(\cdot,t),\qquad F(\cdot, 0)=F_0(\cdot), \] where \(f:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}\) is a smooth function, \(H(\cdot,t)\) is the mean curvature of the immersed hypersurface \(M_t(\cdot)=F(\cdot, t)\) and \(\nu(\cdot,t)\) is its outer unit normal. If \(f'>0\), then it always admits a smooth solution on a maximal time interval \([0,T_{\max})\) with \(T_{\max}<\infty\), see \textit{K. Smoczyk} [New York J. Math. 3, 103--118 (1997; Zbl 0897.53032)]. Following the extension theorem on the mean curvature flow, given by \textit{N. Q. Le} and \textit{N. Sesum} [Math. Z. 267, No. 3--4, 583--604 (2011; Zbl 1216.53060)] and \textit{H.-W. Xu}, \textit{F. Ye} and \textit{E.-T. Zhao} [Asian J. Math. (2011; Zbl 1242.53085)], the main result of this paper is Theorem 1.1. Suppose \(n,k\geq 2\) and \(n+1\geq k\). Consider the \(H^k\) mean curvature flow on \(M\), \[ \frac{\partial}{\partial t}F(\cdot,t)=-H^k(\cdot, t)\nu(\cdot,t),\qquad F(\cdot, 0)=F_0(\cdot). \] If (a) \(h_{ij}(t)\geq Cg_{ij}(t)\) along the \(H^k\) mean curvature flow for a constant \(C>0\), (b)for some \(\alpha\geq n+k+1\), \[ \|H(t)\|_{L^\alpha(M\times [0,T_{\max}))}:=\left(\int_{0}^{T_{\max}} \int_{M_t}|H(t)|_{g(t)}^\alpha\text{d}\mu(t) \text{d}t\right)^{1/\alpha}<\infty, \] then the flow can be extended over the time \(T_{\max}\). For the generalized mean curvature flow, the author gives also some estimates, see Theorem 1.3 and Corollary 1.4, which are of their own interests.
