Random walks in a partially i.i.d. random environment (RWpRE), introduced by \textit{E. Bolthausen, A.-S. Sznitman} and \textit{O. Zeitouni} [Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Probab. Stat. 39, No. 3, 527--555 (2003; Zbl 1016.60094)], are considered. RWpRE are implemented in \(\mathbb{Z}^d\), \(d=d_0+d_1\), where \(d_0 \geq 1\) is the number of coordinates in which the environment is random, and where the projection of the walk on the remaining \(d_1 \geq 5\) coordinates is a deterministic symmetric random walk. A law of large numbers is proven which is an extension of a result of [loc cit.]. This result, along with the lace expansion for self-interacting random walks, is used to prove a monotonicity result for the first coordinate of the speed of the random walk, under some special assumptions on the distribution of the environment.
