This review paper describes basic aspects of turbulence modeling for single-phase non-reacting flows, including thermal turbulence modelling and compressibility effects. The final section gives a critical comparison of discussed turbulence models. Contents: 1. Basic concepts (Reynolds and Favre averaging, Boussinesq assumption, modeling hierarchy); 2. Eddy viscosity models (algebraic models, one- and two-equation models); 3. Stress transport models (differential and algebraic models); 4. Thermal models (specification models, eddy diffusivity models, flux transport models); 5. Conclusions and recommendations. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0903.00023].
