Recall that a complement for a subgroup \(H\) of a group \(G\) is a subgroup \(K\) such that \(HK=G\) and \(H\cap K=1\). Many authors have analyzed the structure of a finite group which has many complemented subgroups. The paper under review is a further contribution in this framework. More concretely, the authors find sufficient conditions for a finite group \(G\) to be \(p\)-nilpotent under the assumption that certain \(p\)-subgroups are complemented. The main result of the paper is the following: Theorem C. Let \(P\) be a Sylow \(p\)-subgroup of the finite group \(G\) and let \(p\) be the smallest prime divisor of the order of \(G\). Let \(d\) be a power of \(p\) with \(1<d<|P|\), and assume that every subgroup of \(P\) having order \(d\) is complemented in \(G\). Suppose also that \(N_G(P)\) is \(p\)-nilpotent. Then \(G\) is \(p\)-nilpotent. The proof of Theorem C relies on a known result which depends on the classification of the finite simple groups. Furthermore, the above theorem generalizes some recent result of \textit{M. Asaad} [in J. Algebra 323, No. 7, 1958-1965 (2010; Zbl 1202.20028)].
