Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded domain in a \(n\)-dimensional complete Riemannian manifold \(M^{n}\). Let \(a\), \(b\in [0,+\infty[\). Let \(\rho\) be a continuous function from \(\overline{\Omega}\) to \(]0,+\infty[\). The authors consider the eigenvalue problem \[ [(-\Delta)^{2}+a (-\Delta)+b]u=\Gamma \rho u\quad{\mathrm{in}}\;\Omega\,, \qquad u_{|\partial\Omega}=\frac{\partial u}{\partial\nu}_{|\partial\Omega}=0\,, \] and prove the following inequality \[ \sum_{\alpha=1}^{n}(\Gamma_{\alpha+1}-\Gamma_{\alpha})^{1/2} \leq\frac{\rho_{\max}}{ \rho_{\min }^{3/2} } \sqrt{(n^{2}H_{0}^{2}-2a+2B) (n^{2}H_{0}^{2}-2a+(n+2)B)}\,, \] for the sequence of eigenvalues \(\{\Gamma_{\alpha}\}_{\alpha\in {\mathbb{N}}\setminus\{0\}}\). Here \(H_{0} \) is a constant which depends only on \(M^{n}\) and \(B\equiv\sqrt{a^{2}+4 \rho_{\min }\left( \Gamma_{1}-\frac{b}{ \rho_{\max} } \right)}\). The above result generalizes work of \textit{Q.-M.~Cheng, G.~Huang} and \textit{G.~Wei} [Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ. 38, No. 3--4, 409--416 (2010; Zbl 1194.35287)].
