The author studies Bernoulli convolutions associated to the sequence \((\beta^n)\), where \(\beta\in(0,1)\). Of particular interest is the nature of the associated measure. The author first states a theorem of Erdős: if \(\beta\) is the inverse of a Pisot number, then the measure is singular continuous [\textit{P. Erdős}, Am. J. Math. 62, 180-186 (1940; Zbl 0022.35403)]. After giving Erdős' proof, the author looks at this measure as the invariant measure associated to some Markov chain. The existence of a finite automaton, depending on algebraic properties of \(\beta\), is crucial in his results. Finally, he gives a connection with an unpublished preprint of Rauzy dated 1990. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0864.00066].
