The authors' first aim is to numerically study Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equations, and to compare them with the Boussinesq equations over an uneven bottom. Their second aim is to find many finite difference schemes for the generalization of Camassa-Holm-like equations derived recently by the second author. To do this, finite-difference schemes are proposed that conserve a discrete energy for the fully discrete scheme. The numerical schemes used here extend ones used in the case of a flat bottom. This approach is compared with the Green-Naghdi equations for a flat bottom and with the discontinuous Galerkin method.
