In [Stud. Math. 128, No. 1, 19--54 (1998; Zbl 0903.46045)], \textit{H. G. Dales}, \textit{F. Ghahramani} and \textit{N. Grønbæk}, defined a Banach algebra \(A\) to be \textit{\(n\)-weakly amenable} if every bounded derivation \(D \!: A \to A^{n\ast}\) is inner; here, \(A^{n\ast}\) stands for the \(n^{th}\) dual of \(A\). Among other results, they proved that, for any locally compact group \(G\), the group algebra \(L^1(G)\) is \(n\)-weakly amenable for each odd \(n\). This begets the natural question of \(L^1(G)\) is also \(n\)-weakly amenable for each even \(n\). This question was eventually settled affirmatively by \textit{Y. Choi, F. Ghahramani} and the author of the paper under review [J. Funct. Anal. 256, No. 10, 3158--3191 (2009; Zbl 1179.46040)] and, independently, by \textit{V.\ Losert} [``On derivations and crossed homomorphisms'', In: Loy, Richard J. (ed.) et al., Banach algebras 2009. Proceedings of the 19th international conference, Bȩdlewo, Poland, July 14-24, 2009. Warszawa: Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Mathematics. Banach Center Publications 91, 199--217 (2010; Zbl 1209.43002)]. In the present note, the authors gives a new and simple proof of this result. He uses a common fixed point theorem for semigroups, which is derived from the main result of [\textit{U. Bader}, \textit{T. Gelander} and \textit{N. Monod}, Invent. Math. 189, No. 1, 143--148 (2012; Zbl 1247.46007)].
