The topic considered is the dynamics of an impurity (monomer or atom) in a crystal, or host environment, which is a fermionic thermal reservoir, interacting with an external monochromatic light source serving as an optical pump. The main mathematical tool used in this study are evolution semigroups converting the non-autonomous Cauchy problem into an autonomous one on a suitable Banach space. It is shown that, for large times, the atomic dynamics of population relax to a stationary state disturbed by small oscillations driven by the external light sources. The results so obtained are compared with those predicted by the Pauli master equation.
