The authors consider a general class of two-dimensional spin systems defined by a Hamiltonian in which the interaction is assumed to be invariant under simultaneous rotation of its arguments. For any infinite-volume Gibbs measure associated to the Hamiltonian, they derive a decaying upper bound on spin-spin correlations. The proof is based on a suitable combination of the Mc Bryan-Spencer approach [\textit{O. A. McBryan} and \textit{T. Spencer}, ``On the decay of correlations in \(SO(n)\)-symmetric ferromagnets'', Commun. Math. Phys. 53, No. 3, 299--302 (1977)] with the expansion technique [\textit{D. Ioffe} et al., Commun. Math. Phys. 226, No. 2, 433--454 (2002; Zbl 0990.82004)].
