Let \((R,\mathfrak{n})\) be a regular local ring, with \(R/\mathfrak{n}\) algebraically closed of characteristic zero, and let \(I\subseteq R\) be an ideal such that \((R/I,\mathfrak{n}/I)\) is Artinian. The main results in this article exhibit upper and lower bounds for the minimal number of generators of \(I\), denoted \(\mu(I)\), and for the Cohen-Macaulay type of \(R/I\), for some classes of Artinian local rings. In section four, the author focuses on a generalization of stretched Artinian local rings. Namely, a \textit{\(t\)-extended stretched Artinian local ring} is an Artinian ring \(R/I\), with maximal ideal \(\mathfrak{m}\), such that \(I\) has initial degree \(t\) (i.e., \(I \subseteq \mathfrak{m}^t\)), and \(\mu(\mathfrak{m}^t)=1\). When \(t=2\) this is the usual definition of stretched, introduced and studied by \textit{J. D. Sally} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 20, 19--26 (1979; Zbl 0402.13018)] and by \textit{J. Elias} and \textit{G. Valla} [Mich. Math. J. 57, 269--292 (2008; Zbl 1180.13033)]. This also generalizes the notion of almost \(t\)-extremal, introduced and studied by \textit{M. E. Rossi} and \textit{G. Valla} [Nagoya Math. J. 110, 81--111 (1988; Zbl 0658.13018)]. The author gives a characterization of when \(R/I\) has homogeneous type under these assumptions. This means that the Betti numbers of \(R/I\) are the same as the Betti numbers of its associated graded ring. In the last section, similar results are proved for a further generalization of stretched Artinian local rings, that is, for Artinian local rings of initial degree \(t\) such that \(\mu(\mathfrak{m}^t) = 2\).
