In the paper there are some theorems on the existence of fixed points of multivalued mappings defined on a complete cone metric space with values in \(CL(X)\) (the family of all nonempty closed subsets of \(X\)). A cone is considered without the normality assumption. The mappings considered are contractions. In the proof of the main result, the idea presented by \textit{S. B. Nadler jun.} in his paper: ``Multi-valued contraction mappings'' [Pac. J. Math. 30, 475--488 (1969; Zbl 0187.45002)] (see also [\textit{S. Czerwik}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 55, 136--139 (1976; Zbl 0336.54046)]) in more general setting, is utilized. Also some local version of such a theorem is presented in the paper. Moreover, an application of the obtained results to homotopy theory (under a little sophisticated assumptions) is presented.
