The coarse Novikov conjecture has been studied by many geometers: \textit{J. Roe} [Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 497, 90 p. (1993; Zbl 0780.58043)], \textit{G. Kasparov} and \textit{G. Yu} [Adv. Math. 206, No. 1, 1--56 (2006; Zbl 1102.19003)], \textit{L. Shan} and \textit{Q. Wang} [J. Funct. Anal. 248, No. 2, 448--471 (2007; Zbl 1125.58002)]. It provides an algorithm to find out when the higher index of an elliptic operator on a noncompact complete Riemannian manifold is nonzero. In the paper [\textit{X. Chen} et al., Adv. Math. 249, 88--130 (2013; Zbl 1292.46014)], X. Chen, Q. Wang and G. Yu showed that the maximal coarse Baum-Connes conjecture holds for metric spaces with bounded geometry which admit a fibred coarse embedding into Hilbert space. Based on some ideas from [Adv. Math. 249, 88--130 (2013; Zbl 1292.46014)] in the present paper the authors study the fibred coarse embedding into a simply connected complete Riemannian manifold of non-positive sectional curvature and a higher-index problem for certain expander graphs. The main result is the following: Theorem. Let \((X_{n})_{n\in \mathbb{N}}\) be a sequence of finite metric spaces with uniform bounded geometry. If the coarse disjoint union \( X=\sqcup _{n\in \mathbb{N}}X_{n}\) admits a fibred coarse embedding into a simply connected complete Riemannian manifold of non-positive sectional curvature, then the coarse Novikov conjecture holds for \(X\), i.e., the index map from \(\mathrm{lim}_{d\rightarrow \infty }K_{\ast }(P_{d}(X))\) to \(K_{\ast }(C^{\ast }(X))\) is injective, where \(K_{\ast }(P_{d}(X))=KK_{\ast }(C_{0}(P_{d}(X)),\mathbb{C})\) is the locally finite \(K\)-homology group of the Rips complex \(P_{d}(X)\), and \(K_{\ast }(C^{\ast }(X))\) is the \(K\)-theory group of the Roe algebra \(C^{\ast }(X)\) associated to \(X\).
