Let \(R\) be a lattice-ordered ring (\(l\)-ring). A positive derivation \(D\) on \(R\) is an endomorphism of the additive group of \(R\) that satisfies (1) for any \(a,b\in R\), \(D(ab)=aD(b)+D(a)b\), and (2) \(D(R^+)\subseteq R^+\), where \(R^+=\{r\in R\mid r\geq 0\}\) is the positive cone of \(R\). \textit{P. Colville, G. Davis} and \textit{K. Keimel} first studied positive derivations on Archimedean \(f\)-rings. They proved that if \(D\) is a positive derivation on an Archimedean \(f\)-ring \(R\), then \(D(R)\subseteq N(R)\) and \(D(R^2)=0\) [J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 23, 371-375 (1977; Zbl 0376.06021)]. \textit{K. Boulabiar} generalized the result to almost \(f\)-rings by showing that if \(D\) is a positive derivation on an Archimedean almost \(f\)-ring \(R\), then we have \(D(R)\subseteq N(R)\) and \(D(R^3)=\{0\}\) [Order 19, No. 4, 385-395 (2002; Zbl 1025.06015)]. Therefore, the only positive derivation on Archimedean \(f\)-rings and almost \(f\)-rings with \(N(R)=\{0\}\) is the trivial derivation. An example is given of an Archimedean almost \(f\)-ring \(R\) and a positive derivation on \(R\), say \(D\), such that \(D(R^2)\neq\{0\}\). Recently, some results on continuous derivations on Archimedean \(d\)-algebras have appeared [\textit{M. A. Toumi}, Asian-Eur. J. Math. 5, No. 3, Paper No. 1250045 (2012; Zbl 1314.06021)]. However, it only considers real \(d\)-algebras and continuous derivations on them. In this note, the authors show that if \(D\) is a positive derivation on an Archimedean \(d\)-ring \(R\), then \(D(R)\subseteq N(R)\). An example is also provided to show that there exists a positive derivation \(D\) on an Archimedean \(d\)-ring \(R\) such that \(D(R^n)\neq\{0\}\) for any positive integer \(n\).
