The authors study differential equations controlled by the weak derivative of a measurable function of time called control. Since the weak derivative of a function of time can be a measure, these are sometimes called impulsive control problems. For these problems, a meaningful notion of solution is available a) when the control is Lebesgue integrable and the Lie algebra of the control vector field is trivial; b) when the control has bounded variation and the Lie algebra can be non-trivial. In this interesting and carefully written paper, the authors unify these two classes of solutions by introducing the notion of limit solution. In addition to provide new results, the paper can be used as a survey on approximately 30 years of research on the appropriate notion of solution to impulsive control problems.
