Let \(H\) be the upper half of the complex plane. The author shows that any function \(u(z)\) positive and harmonic in \(H\) is a contractive function for the hyperbolic metric \(d_h\), i.e., \(d_{h}(u(z), u(w))\leq d_{h}(z, w)\) for any \(z,w\in H\). If equality holds for some pair of distinct points \(z\) and \(w\), then the function \(u\) is the imaginary part of a Mobius transform from \(H\) onto \(H\).
