The paper is devoted to the problem of integrability of dynamical systems within the frame of the Ziglin-Morales-Ramis theory. In it, the author describes the tensor and combinatorial technique (see [\textit{U. Bekbaev}, ``Matrix representations for symmetric and antisymmetric multi-linear maps'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1010.2579}]) used to obtain a compact and explicit form of representation of the linearised higher-order variational equations for a generic autonomous system. The presentation is illustrated by an example for the dynamics of the swinging Atwood's machine (see \textit{O. Pujol} et al. [Physica D 239, No. 12, 1067--1081 (2010; Zbl 1189.37041)]).
