The paper deals with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary value problem for the coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations in a bounded domain \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^d\), \(d=1,2,3\), \[ i \partial_t \psi_{1}=\left[ -\frac{1}{2} \Delta +V(x)+\delta+\beta_{11}|\psi_1|^2+\beta_{12}|\psi_2|^2\right]\psi_{1}+\lambda \psi_{2}, \] \[ i \partial_t \psi_{2}=\left[ -\frac{1}{2} \Delta +V(x)+\delta+\beta_{12}|\psi_1|^2+\beta_{22}|\psi_2|^2\right]\psi_{2}+\lambda \psi_{1}, \; x \in \Omega, \;t>0, \] subject to some initial condition \(\psi_{k}(x,0)=\varphi_{k}(x)\), \(x \in \overline{\Omega}\), \(k=1,2\). Conservative and non-conservative finite difference schemes on a rectangular grid are proposed and the accuracy order \(\mathcal{O}(h^2+\tau^2)\) in various discrete norms is proven, where \(h\) and \(\tau\) are the characteristic mesh sizes. Numerical results are given.
