A solvable-by-finite group \(G\) is minimax, if it has a finite series whose factors satisfy either the minimal or the maximal condition on its subgroups. Denoting by \(D(G)\) the subgroup generated by all Chernikov divisible normal subgroups of \(G\), we say that \(G\) is a reduced minimax group when \(D(G)\) is trivial. With these notions in the hands, one can investigate their role on the conjugacy classes and a way to do this is to put these conditions on the quotient group \(G/C_G(x^G)\), where \(x\) is an element of a group \(G\), \(x^G\) denotes the normal closure of \(\langle x\rangle\) in \(G\) and \(C_G(x^G)\) the usual centralizer of \(x^G\) in \(G\). An \(M_rC\)-group \(G\) is in fact a group \(G\) such that \(G/C_G(x^G)\) is a reduced minimax group. One can see that \(M_rC\)-groups generalize two classes of groups, which had attention in the last years. The first is that of minimal non-FC-groups, studied mostly by V. V. Belyaev, B. Bruno and R. E. Phillips, the second is that of minimal non-PC-groups, studied more recently by the second author of the present paper and by the reviewer [in Ann. Math. Blaise Pascal 16, No. 2, 277-286 (2009; Zbl 1187.20042)]. The main result of the paper under review deals with conditions of equivalence between minimal non-\(M_rC\)-groups, minimal non-FC-groups and minimal non-PC-groups in presence of a proper subgroup of finite index.
