Systems of equations with a single solution (Q480678)

This paper classifies the collections of lattice polytopes with minimal mixed volumes. According to a result of Kouchnirenko and Bernstein [\textit{D. N. Bernstein}, Funct. Anal. Appl. 9, 183--185 (1976); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 9, No. 3, 1--4 (1975; Zbl 0328.32001)] , for a system of \(n\) polynomial equations in \(n\) variables, the number of solutions in the complex torus is given by the Minkowski mixed volumes of the Newton polytopes of these equations, thus the main result of the paper also classifies generic systems of polynomial equations with a single solution.
