The author uses the Yosida approach for the approximation of the derivative in order to give new results for evolution systems. He considers the differential inclusion \[ u'(t)\in A(t) u(t) +\omega u(t)+f(t), \, t\in \mathbb{R}, \leqno{(1)} \] and the initial value problem \[ u'(t)\in A(t) u(t) +\omega u(t)+f(t), \, t\in \mathbb{R_{+}}, \, u(0)=u_{0},\leqno{(2)} \] where \(\omega\in\mathbb{R} \), \(A(t)\) denotes a possibly nonlinear time-dependent dissipative operator, \(f\in BUC (\mathbb{R}, X)\) in case \((1)\), \(f\in BUC (\mathbb{R_{+}}, X)\) in case \((2)\) and \(X\) is a general Banach space. For the corresponding homogeneous problems, i.e. the case, when \(f(t)\equiv 0\), and in order to solve these problems, the author used the Yosida approach of the derivative, i.e., \[ \left( \dfrac{d}{dt}\right) _{\lambda}u(s)=\dfrac{1}{\lambda}\left( u(s)-u_{0} -\dfrac{1}{\lambda} \int^{s}_{0} e^{-\frac{\tau}{\lambda}}( u(s-\tau)-u_{0})ds\right) , \] which yields to approximate equations \[ \left( \dfrac{d}{dt}\right) _{\lambda}u_{\lambda}(t)\in A(t) u_{\lambda}(t)+\omega u_{\lambda}(t). \] Under appropriate hypotheses on \(A(t)\), the solutions of the approximate equations for the whole line problem \((1)\) or for the initial value problem \((2)\), respectively, converge uniformly on \(\mathbb{R}\) or on \(\mathbb{R_{+}}\) to the solution required. For the inhomogeneous problems, an existence result is given both for \((1)\) and \((2)\) via an adequate transformation to the homogeneous cases. As application, the author studies nonautonomous nonlinear functional differential equations \[ u'(t)\in A(t) u(t)+\omega u(t)+G(t,u_{t}), \] in both cases, \(E=C([-r,0], X )\) or \(E=BUC((-\infty,0] ,X)\) where \(G:\mathbb{R}\times E\rightarrow X\) satisfies \(\| G(t,\phi_{1})-G(t,\phi_{2})\| \leq \beta \| \phi_{1}- \phi_{2} \|,\) for some \(\beta >0\), for every \(t\in\mathbb{R} \) and every \(\phi_{1},\,\phi_{2}\in E\).
