Let \(H\) be a Hopf algebra. A right Hopf module algebra on \(H\) is a right Hopf module \(M\) with an associative multiplication such that for all \(h\in H\), \(m,m'\in M\), \[ (mm')\cdot h=m(m'\cdot h),\qquad\delta_R(mm')=\delta_R(m)\delta_R(m'). \] It is proved that the canonical projection on the subspace of right coinvariants is a Rota-Baxter operator of weight \(-1\). As an example, if \(V\) is a Yetter-Drinfeld module on \(H\), the smash product \(V\#H\) inherits a structure of right Hopf module algebra, and hence has a Rota-Baxter operator. This holds for bosonizations of Nichols algebras, and consequently positive parts of quantum groups admit idempotent Rota-Baxter operators.
