    Let \(R\) be a Noetherian ring and \(m \geq 2\) an integer. Let \(x_0 , x_1, \dots , x_{m}\) be elements of \(R\) generating a proper ideal of height \(m+1\). Let \(I\) be the ideal generated by the maximal minors of the matrix \[ \begin{bmatrix} x_0^{\alpha_{11}} & x_1^{\alpha_{12}} & \cdots & \cdots & x_{m-1}^{\alpha_{1m}} & x_{m}^{\alpha_{1(m+1)}} \\ x_1^{\alpha_{21}} & \cdots & \cdots &x_{m-1}^{\alpha_{2(m-1)}} &x_{m}^{\alpha_{2m}} & x_1^{\alpha_{2(m+1)}} \\ \vdots & & \vdots & & \vdots \\ x_{m-1}^{\alpha_{m1}} & x_m^{\alpha_{m2}} & x_1^{\alpha_{m3}} & \cdots &\cdots & x_{m-2}^{\alpha_{m(m+1)}} \end{bmatrix} \] where the \(\alpha_{ij}\) are positive integers. Such ideals (when \(m=2\)) were studied by \textit{L. O'Carroll} and \textit{F. Planas-Vilanova} [Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 54, No. 1, 161--186 (2011; Zbl 1238.13010)] who called them \textit{ideals of Herzog-Northcott type}. Now suppose that \(R\) is local with maximal ideal \(\mathfrak{m}\) and that \(x_0, \ldots, x_{m}\) form a system of parameters for \(R\). For an \(R\)-ideal \(J\), write \(J^{\mathrm{sat}}\) for its saturation \(\bigcup_{n \geq 1} (J:_R\mathfrak{m}^n)\). The authors show that, for every \(1 \leq r \leq m-1\), \((I^r)^{\mathrm{sat}} = I^r\) and that \((I^m)^{\mathrm{sat}}/I^m\) is a cyclic \(R\)-module.
