Hereafter, let \(k\) be a field of characteristic zero, let \(R\) be a commutative Noetherian \(\mathbb{N}\)-graded Cohen-Macaulay ring over \(k\) with unique graded maximal ideal \(\mathfrak{m},\) set \(V:=k[\![t]\!]\) and \(K:=k(t).\) Moreover, let \(\text{mod}(R)\) the category of finitely generated, \(\mathbb{Z}\)-graded \(R\)-modules, \(\text{CM}(R)\) the full subcategory of \(\text{mod}(R)\) made up by graded Cohen-Macaulay \(R\)-modules, and let \(\text{CM}_0(R)\) be the full subcategory of \(\text{CM}(R)\) with the property that any object \(M\in\text{CM}_0(R)\) satisfies that, for any homogeneous prime ideal \(\mathfrak{p}\neq\mathfrak{m},\) the homogeneous localization \(M_{(\mathfrak{p})}\) is a free \(R_{(\mathfrak{p})}\)-module. Finally, given objects \(M,N\in\text{CM}(R),\) set \([M,N]:=\dim_k \text{Hom}_R (M,N);\) after all of this notation, we are ready to single out the main features of the paper under review. First of all, it is proved (see Theorem 2.7) that if, in addition, \(R\) is a Gorenstein graded isolated singularity, and \(k\) is algebraically closed, then \([M,X]=[N,X]\) for any \(X\in\text{CM}(R)\) if and only if \(M\cong N;\) this shows that the relation \[ M\leq_{\hom} N\text{ if and only if }[M,X]\leq [N,X] \text{ for any }X\in\text{CM}(R) \] defines a partial order on \(\text{CM}(R);\) secondly, the author introduces the notion of \textit{graded degeneration} for graded modules (see Definition 3.1); he says that, given \(M,N\in\text{CM}(R),\) \(N\) is a graded degeneration of \(M\) if there exists a finitely generated, \(R\otimes_k V\)-module \(Q\) such that \(Q\) is flat as \(V\)-module, \(Q\otimes_V V/tV\cong N,\) and \(Q\otimes_V K\cong M\otimes_k K.\) In addition, it is proved (see Theorem 3.9) that, if \(R\) is graded Gorenstein with graded finite representation type, and such that the Auslander-Reiten quiver attached to \(\text{CM}_0(R)\) has no oriented cyclic paths, then \(N\) is a graded degeneration of \(M\) if and only if \(M\leq_{\hom} N\) and both \(M\) and \(N\) have the same Hilbert series. Finally, he introduces the stable analogue of graded degeneration (see Definition 4.1), and shows the analogous of Theorem 3.9 in this stable context (see Theorem 4.2).
