Let \(C^{\infty}(a,b)\) be the space of infinitely differentiable functions on \((a,b)\) (\(-\infty\leq a < b\leq\infty\)) with the topology of uniform convergence of each derivative of the function on compacts in \((a,b)\). In the paper, there is investigated the structure of closed subspaces of \(C^{\infty}(a,b)\) which are invariant for the differentiation operator \(D=\frac{d}{dx}\). Let \(L\subset C^{\infty}(a,b)\) be a \(D\)-invariant subspace such that \(\sigma(D|_{L})\) is a nonvoid discrete subset of \(\mathbb C\) consisting of eigenvalues of \(D\). The residual part of \(L\) is defined as follows: \[ \bigcap \{ p(D)L: p\text{ is a polynomial}\}. \] There are found sufficient conditions of the following property: the subspace \(L\) is generated by its residual part and the monomial exponentials \(x^{k}e^{\lambda x}\) it contains. It is proved that this result is not necessarily true if these conditions are violated.
