\textit{R. L. Moore} in [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 21, 333--347 (1920; JFM 47.0519.08)] proved that every metric continuum has two or more non-cut points. Every shore point is a non-cut point. \textit{R. Leonel} [Topology Appl. 161, 433--441 (2014; Zbl 1291.54040)] proved that every metric continuum has two or more shore points. \textit{J. Bobok, P. Pyrih} and \textit{B. Vejnar} in [Non-cut, shore and non-block points in continua, Glas. Mat. (2016) forthcoming] observed that the points discovered by Leonel are not only shore points, but in fact non-block points (in general a shore point does not need to be a non-block point). \textit{G. T. Whyburn} [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 61, 380--387 (1968; Zbl 0165.25803)] extended the result of Moore to non-metric continua. In the paper under review the author studies if the result of Leonel can also be extend to non-metric continua. He reduces the problem of the existence of shore or non-block points to the case of indecomposable continua, namely he proves that if every indecomposable Hausdorff continuum has two or more non-block points, then all Hausdorff continua have this property. Moreover, the study of which continua have this property can be reduced to the study of indecomposable continua with exactly one composant. Next it is proved that separable continua have at least two non-block points and they are irreducible about their set of non-block points.
