The authors introduce the concept of global representation ring \(\text Д(G)\) of a finite group \(G\), as follows. Firstly, let \(\mathcal{L}\) be the category whose objects are pairs \((X, V)\) where \(X\) is a finite \(G\)-set, and \(V\) is an \(X\)-graded \(\mathbb{C}G\)-module. Consider the Grothendieck group \(G_0(\mathcal{L}, \sqcup)\) (with respect to the disjoint union of \(G\)-sets and the direct sum of modules), and the resulting ring \(T(G)\) (with respect to the cartesian product of \(G\)-sets and the tensor product of modules). Secondly, define the ring \(\text Д(G)\) by \[ \text Д(G)=T(G)/\langle [H,V_1\oplus V_2]-[H,V_1]-[H,V_2]\rangle, \] and denote by \([H, V]\) the elements of \(\text Д(G)\). The elements \([H, S]\), where \(H\) is a subgroup of \(G\) (up to conjugacy) and \(S\) is a simple \(\mathbb{C}H\) -module, form a basis of \(\text Д(G))\) over the ring of integers. This construction combines Burnside rings and character rings. The authors compute the ring homomorphisms from this ring to the complex numbers, its spectrum, its connected components, and determine the primitive idempotents of \(\text{Д}(G)\).
