The paper is devoted to the following non-local problem for an evolution problem in a Banach space \(X\): \[ d_t u + Au=f(u), \,\,\, u(0)=\int_0^T u(t)h(t)dt,\,t \in [0,T] \] for a given weight function \(h \in L^1((0,T),\mathbb{R}^+)\) and a sectorial operator \(A: D(A) \subset X \to X\). The main goal of the paper is to show that under the assumption that the evolution equation has an asymptotically stable equilibrium point \(u^\ast\), then under some assumptions the Cauchy problem has a global (in time) solution close to \(u^\ast\). The author proposes a twofold motivation for his approach: {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize} \item[-] One can solve the classical semi-linear Cauchy problem and check whether the solution satisfies the fixed point formulation \( u(0)=\int_0^T u(t;u_0) h(t) dt\). \item [-] Assume \(\int_0^T h(t) dt=1\) the constant function \(u(t)\equiv u^\ast\) solves the non-local Cauchy problem. \end{itemize}} For these both reasons the author proves the existence of a solution to the non-local Cauchy problem close to \(u^\ast\) by homotopically connecting the non-local problem with a given weight \(h\) to a problem with weight function satisfying \(\int_0^T h(t) dt=1\) and having a constant solution. One basic tool is Granas' continuation principle for contractive maps.
